Health Questions & Answers

Our dog small dog was just diagnosed with diabetes. We are trying to adjust to the insulin routine. I would like to start her on the Dia-IonX. However, she is on dry food. Can it be added to dry food? She shares a water bowl with our other dog and cat, who are not diabetic. It would be hard to designate a water bowl just for her. Any suggestions on how to administer? Thanks.

Dear Ruthann,

It can be added to dry food if it is consumed at once. We wouldn't want it making the food soggy and leaving it for hours. I prefer to initially split the dose so that you give a half dose twice daily on the breakfast and supper food. Please let us know how this works for you. After some improvement is seen you can switch to a whole dose once a day.

Best regards,
