Health Questions & Answers

Last spring our Lab was chasing the geese and although ice was on the river, it gave way and he fell in. He had been trying to stay afloat for approximately half an hour before two people were able to rescue him.

This spring he seems to have developed stiffness in one of his hind legs. Could this be arthritis and if so, which product would you recommend? He is a full grown adult dog and is slightly overweight although I have cut his food intake back about 50% and he is gradually losing weight. We go for a 20-30 minute walk each day and he is outdoors lots in the daytime. Thank you. Do you have trial samples of products to try?

Dear Barb,

Your dog might have arthritis being a Labrador. However, if you can find a certified veterinary chiropractor I would suggest that you have that person evaluate your dog. Struggling in the water after falling through the ice could have tightened some muscles and caused some misalignment in the body. With either cause, making sure the weight is distributed properly in the body is usually helpful. If there is misalignment it can eventually lead to arthritis.

In addition I would try Arthro-IonX because it contains homeopathics that address the symptoms of muscle and joint soreness regardless of the cause. It also stimulates healing and repair of the tissues. Along with Arthro-IonX it is helpful to give digestive enzymes with each meal, and a probiotic and a fish oil supplement daily. Arthro-IonX will aid better utilization of the supplements and together it has a synergistic effect for faster healing.

Please let us know of your progress and if you have any other questions that we can help you with. We do not have any samples, but if you call in and talk to Petra she can discuss with you our customer satisfaction policy.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
