The hair on the back of my dog's neck is damp could he have a fever?

Dear Nancy,

Dogs do not have sweat glands there. Your dog may be developing hot spots. If your dog has a fever the ear tips and nose will be hotter than normal. It would be helpful to have your veterinarian check your dog to determine the cause of the internal heat.
