Is there a way for me to check my dog's sugar? Can I draw blood, and where would I draw the blood from? I would love to know what his sugar is running when he lays around all day.

Dear Anna,

In veterinary medicine, generally the veterinarian draws a blood sample that reflects the glucose levels over a period of time. You could ask your veterinarian about a meter similar to what people use but your dog probably won't like to be stuck so often. We sell the urine sticks so that if you are using DIA-IONX and there is no sugar in the urine, then you would know it is time to call your veterinarian before giving another dose of insulin. Giving too much insulin is dangerous. Using a holistic approach can help with better regulation and sometimes lower the amount of insulin needed. Please let us know if you would like more information.

Best regards,
