About 2 years ago my older cat (16 yrs) started getting skin sores caused by excessive itching/over grooming. She has always been on flea preventative and is fully indoors. I was told it was skin allergies by 2 separate vets and after trying several methods of management - we went with a shot of Depo (steroid) about every 2.5 to 3 months. I know the long term effects of the steroid can cause diabetes not to mention kidney disease but literally nothing else was a good option for her. Do you think the original skin sores could have been caused by diabetes instead?
