When cats have been together from birth and raised outside, do they experience depression when separated and brought inside?

Dear Jan,

Cats form bonds with each other and can become depressed if separated. Outdoor cats can miss the outdoors if they are locked inside. They can beg and try to sneak outside. Others are perfectly happy to stay inside.
