Hi - I've been to my vet many times over the years to have my cat treated for what was diagnosed as melliary dermatitus. The only thing he does is give her a steroid shot, but I've read that that can be dangerous so I've only taken her once or twice a year. This year - for the last three months, she has been worse than ever. Back, neck, scratching herself til her skin bleeds. She had a steroid shot a little over a month ago + antibiotic - two weeks later - another antibiotic. Nothing changed. I've bought products from Yucca Intensive to Topical sprays...and nothing seems to work. When she smells it in her food - forget it. I've even tried tiny doses, but she is a large (not fat) cat - 14 lbs and rather a brute and well - she can be a handful. What can I try now? Any ideas?

Dear Michelle,

DERMA-IONX has been helpful in miliary dermatitis. With miliary dermatitis I suggest that the cat be checked for parasites, so you might want to do this if it hasn't been done recently. I also give probiotics, and Omega 3,6,9. As for dosing the DERMA-IONX, I prefer to add 10 drops onto some canned food twice daily at breakfast and supper. What kind of food and treats do you give your cat?

Please keep us updated.

Best regards,
