My 11 1/2 year old female Keeshound was just diagnosed with Diabetes. The vet prescribed insulin injections 2X a day and a weekly blood test every 2 hours 6 X once a week to check her sugar levels, elimination of treats ( we used organic as well as food ). Is there any way this product can be used in place of this treatment approach ?

DIA-IONX does not replace insulin. Usually insulin is used to get the blood glucose level down faster. One can give DIA-IONX along with insulin. DIA-IONX was designed to help with the symptoms of diabetes and to stimulate the body to heal. Healing takes time and so you need to monitor blood glucose levels to determine if it is appropriate to adjust your therapy. You may find your dog needs less insulin. In addition I give probiotics. MSM, and Omega 3,6,9. DIA-IONX helps the body to utilize the diet and supplements better for a synergistic effect for faster healing. Sometimes pets are able to control their glucose levels by diet and supplementation. It is also important to avoid giving water that contains chlorine and fluoride. Exercise helps to reduce blood glucose levels.

You might ask about the number of blood tests. The long test is usually done when insulin is started and not forever weekly. I like to monitor the glucose levels in the urine (using a dipstick) to get daily notification if anything is changing and so that a blood glucose level can be done sooner so that you are not waiting until the next previously scheduled appointment. If the body begins to make more functional insulin, the amount of the insulin injection needs to be decreased or you would be overdosing.
