Hello My cat Jazzy has been irritating her tail. I've tried to touch it to look and she gets upset at me. I noticed tonight that she has licked off more hair on it and there is more scabs from her irritating it. I have a spray that has cortisone in it that I was going to spray on it to help levee some of the pain and itching but I wanted to know if I could use neosporen on it. I can't find my Triple ointment that I have that is for horses, cat's and dog's at the moment, and the only thing I have is the Neosporen. She normally walks with her tail up right and when you call her name she';D wiggle it and then come a running to you. But now its low and curved down wards... She just turned 11.

Dear Doreen,

You should only use a product that is labelled for cats. She will probably lick it. It would be good to bring her to your veterinarian in case the fur needs to be trimmed to clean the area. Do you know why this started? If you don't know maybe your veterinarian can help you determine the cause. You might want to consider DERMA-IONX to reduce skin inflammation and stimulate healing. Generally probiotics and Omega 3,6,9 are supportive to healthy skin.

Please let us know how you do or if you get a diagnosis.

Best regards,
