Dr. Wilson,

What is the difference between Arthro-IonX and Promaxol? We have an
18 year old (on January 25th) Cairn Terrier, who wobbles when he walks, and
partially drags his left back foot. X-rays do not show arthritis; so the vet thinks maybe it’s a pinched nerve. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Dear Walt and Mickey,

Promaxol is our stronger pain relief formula containing LM potencies. Arthro-IonX is usually used for moderate symptoms and for long-term maintenance situations. In addition to either of the above formulations, I would suggest that you give digestive enzymes with meals, and a probiotic and a high quality fish oil supplement daily. Together with either of the VETiONX products, it has a synergistic effect to speed up healing. In addition, a choline supplement such as Geri-Form might also improve nerve function. If you can find a certified veterinary chiropractor to evaluate your dog, sometimes a simple spinal adjustment allows the nerves to function better. I have seen dogs that were dragging their rear legs return to walking again once the pressure on the nerve was reduced. Arthro-IonX helps to reduce pain and inflammation and can also help to reduce pressure as well. Please let us know how you progress; we want to do everything possible to help you offer the best quality of life for your senior pet.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
