Health Questions & Answers

Hi Dr. Char,

We have an 8 year old boxer with kidney disease, a recent bone malformation (cancer? it was left undiagnosed and the vet simply was leaning toward cancer), she also had 3 siezures about this time last year.

More recently she experienced syncope two days in a row. When we made it into the vet they found that she has an enlarged heart.

We were given the name of a specialist, but as she is older with other symptoms and weak kidneys, I am worried she would not be able to handle heart medications. We also do not want to extend her life with medications and treatments if she is feeling sick or unhappy anyway... rather let her live out her life having fun and feeling good while she can.

What do you think? What should we do?

You might want to visit the heart specialist to find out his thoughts on what is going on. You don't need to do the meds if you don't want to. I would give Coenzyme Q10 and Cardiac Support by Standard Process. I would also give some Arthro-IonX to improve nutrient assimilation and help muscle function. Please let us know what you find out.

Best regards,
Dr. Char
