Health Questions & Answers

Hello! In desperation, I just ordered both of these products for our 8 year old Rotti/lab mix. We adopted him at age 2, and after 2 vet opinions and x-rays, it was determined that he has very bad hip dysplasia that likely took effect as a puppy. We have tried everything except surgery and pain killers, including oral glucose tablets (several kinds) and more recently Adequan injections at a hefty price, that quite honestly, did nothing for him:( I'm wondering if you think he has a chance of benefiting from the products that I just ordered, and what your recommended dose(s) should be. Should I give both meds at a crisis dose, or just one at a time? He's really declining. He still has his appetite (thank goodness) and I do my best to keep his weight at 100 lbs. (no higher), but he struggles to get up an down. He is otherwise healthy according to our vet, but I see him in pain and I don't want him to suffer and I really don't want to "put him down". Thank you.

Dear Season,

PROMAXOL is ARTHRO-IONX plus the LM potencies of each of the individual ingredients. If a condition is severe I start with PROMAXOL and then switch over to ARTHRO-IONX for maintenance. For either one, initially I give a half dose twice daily on the breakfast and supper meals. If you need to you can give one or two additional half doses as needed. With improvement I switch to a whole dose once a day.

I would also give PROBIOTICS and OMEGA 3,6,9 to strengthen the body and reduce inflammation. What kind of food, supplements, and water are you giving? These factors make a difference.

It might be helpful to have your dog evaluated by a veterinary chiropractor. Proper alignment of the hips makes a positive difference in better movement. Acupuncture can also help.

If your dog needs assistance in getting up and down, a harness with a handle is invaluable. It can help protect both you and your dog. Looking forward to your reply regarding the above questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
