I would like to know the comparison between the two products, Arthro-IonX and Promaxol. Currently I give my Saint Bernard 1 teaspoon of Arthro-IonX daily; she also takes Tramadol and Prevacox for her hip dysplasia and arthritis. I want to know if the products have the same purpose.

Dear Linda,

We use Promaxol for more acute pain. It contains the effective LM potencies. For longer term usage we recommend Arthro-IonX to help with pain, inflammation and to stimulate healing of the joints. It takes a few weeks for this to begin, so be patient. The positive side to this is that at least it doesn't irritate the stomach or damage the liver. As you see improvement, then talk to your veterinarian about gradually reducing the amount of Tramadol given. Be sure not to stop this drug suddenly because the body becomes addicted to it and will experience negative side effects if it abruptly stopped. In addition, I hope you are also giving digestive enzymes with meals, probiotics, and a high quality fish oil supplement. These work synergistically with the Arthro-IonX to help speed healing. Please let us know how you progress and if we can help you further.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
