We have a 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd diagnosed with double hip dysplasia. It is an extreme case along with arthritis. Can you help? Surgery costs are enormous. Thank you for any info you can pass on to us.

Dear Deb,

I am sorry your dog has severe problems. Here are some suggestions that have helped others. Give Arthro-IonX to help minimize pain and stiffness, but also stimulate repair. The homeopathic ingredients address the more common symptoms of musculoskeletal disease. The therapeutic mineral base is unique and effective to stimulate the enzyme systems in the body to help with healing. In addition I like to give digestive enzymes with each meal; this is especially important for German Shepherds. Other supplements that are helpful include probiotics, MSM,Vitamin C, and a fish oil supplement. Arthro-IonX helps the body better utilize the other supplements for a synergistic effect. It is important to provide the substrates to make the repairs.

What kind of dog food do you give him? Food can be a factor, too.

In addition if you can find a certified veterinary chiropractor to evaluate your dog, this could be helpful in redistributing the body weight more appropriately and thus helping the hips.

I hope this will make a difference in your dog and that it gives him the quality of life he deserves.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
