My neighbor gave me a bottle of Arthro-IonX which she love for her dog with hip dysplasia. My 13-year old dog Daisy (53 pound beagle-bloodhound mix) has bad arthritis in her front left elbow. She puts about 8% of her weight on that leg. She walks with a limp. She does like to long walks on cool days. She is currently on Metacam at the 50 pound dosage. I would like to try Arthro-IonX, but I don't want to stop giving her the Metacam. Is that okay? Can I give her the Arthro-IonX on a little piece of bread and/or with peanut butter?

Dear Linda,

You may use ARTHRO-IONX along with other medications or supplements so it is OK to use with Metacam. It is homeopathic in nature and so it will not negatively interact with other physical substances. However, you should give it at a different time than the medicine. Usually I like to split the dose in half and give half with breakfast and half with supper. You can add it to a small piece of bread if you would like.

Please let us know how you do.

Best wishes,
