I have a 12 year old collie with some calcification of her lower spine and arthritis in one of her back knees. I have another appointment tomorrow with my vet. We have tried Previcox which only upsets her stomach and we have tried the laser treatments that she almost acts as if it hurts her to have them. What of your products would you suggest trying?

Dear Pattie,

I would start with PROMAXOL. It helps to decrease pain and inflammation and stimulates healing. Initially I would split the dose and give a half dose with breakfast and supper. After improvement is seen you can give a whole dose once daily. For longer term management you can switch to ARTHRO-IONX. In addition I find it helpful to follow a holistic approach by giving some nutritional supplements to accompany the homeopathic. I would use MSM, vitamin C, probiotics, and Omega 3,6,9. Since your dog is older I would give a choline/ B vitamin supplement called Geri-Form to help nourish the nerves innervating the rear end. What type of food and water are you giving your dog?

I would also suggest an evaluation by a veterinary chiropractor. If a correction is needed, that can help with better movement.

Please keep us updated and we can help guide you.

Best regards,
