Health Questions & Answers

My 6 month old Lab/Hound mix has had skin problems since he was 10 weeks old. We've been to the vet multiple times, has always been on a no-grain diet (salmon), been treated for scabies, allergies (apoquel) and anti-bionics, he is bathed twice a week with anti-fungal shampoo, and we've done every home remedy there is (coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, etc.) It has become exhausting! He has developed a moldy smell making me think it's allergies that have developed into a yeast infection. Have you heard of any problems like this before? Do you think this product would help his extreme conditions? I'm getting desperate!

Dear Jasmine,

Your dog is not alone in developing a yeast infection after prolonged allergies. I would use the homeopathic DERMA-IONX both internally and externally to heal and soothe the skin as well as rebuilding the immune system. Giving probiotics, vitamin C, and Omega 3,6,9 will all help in that goal. DERMA-IONX also helps the body to better utilize the supplements for faster results. I would start with a 1/2 dose of DERMA-IONX twice a day. It is easiest to add it to the food. I would feed a grain free dog food. Have you tried turkey to give a change for a while? I would offer filtered drinking water to avoid chlorine or fluoride. It would also be good to bathe with filtered water. If you have chlorinated water getting a filter would be helpful. I would try DEFENDEX shampoo because it contains essential oils and is less toxic than medicated shampoos.

Please let us know how you progress or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
