Health Questions & Answers

My border collie has suffered from allergies for seven years now since we moved to Europe. She was diagnosed with food allergies and atopic dermatitis due to environmental allergies. I tried the Derma-Ionx, but she had diaohrrea, even when starting with half a dose only. She is very prone to diaohrrea, and even a short walk out on the street can cause her to have diaohrrea, although she has been on hypoallergenic food all these years, since she was first diagnosed. We keep exercising her though in less ofensive environments, but I would like to know whether there would be any medication to help her. She had diaohrrea when she was treated with Neoral too recently and it had to be suspended. Thanks for your help.

I would start more gradually with DERMA-IONX, with one drop a day and increase by one drop each day splitting the dose between breakfast and supper. If the stool softens reduce the amount to the previous dose and stay at that amount for a while before trying to increase again. You can go up to a half dose twice daily. But we would like to be continually updated by you.

I would also give some PROBIOTICS with each meal.

What stresses out your dog? Did the problems begin within a few months of vaccinations? Or is there anything else that created a shift? Do you know what your dog is allergic to and was there testing done to confirm it?
