Health Questions & Answers

I have a 12 year old Akita that was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 8 months old. He has been on SynFlex and other Supplements since. He walks fine, gets up slow, and is now not fond of going downstairs. I would like to find a better supplement. Aren’t Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Hylauronic, MSM, and Vitamin C in liquid form the best? What are your thoughts on this? I want him around as long as possible.

Dear Denise,

The ingredients you mentioned are all very good to use in your situation. In addition, you could also try Arthro-IonX because it reduces pain, stiffness and inflammation. It helps the body to use all the other nutrients that you have given more efficiently. It sounds like you have done your homework, but I will add a few other suggestions just in case you aren't doing these things. If you feed cooked or processed food, I would give digestive enzymes with each meal. On a daily basis give probiotics and a high quality fish oil. Together with Arthro-IonX there is a synergistic effect that speeds up healing.
If possible, have a certified veterinary chiropractor evaluate your dog. Having pressure in the right places seems to help improve long-term outcome.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
