Health Questions & Answers

I have two questions. One: I'm in a position to buy the 32oz bottle. Based on the dosage my two Malamutes get, that would be about a 4 month supply. Would the product go bad before then? Two: My male appears to have an anal gland infection. He shows a great deal of swelling when he has a movement (it disappears afterwards). His stool also has a flat side to it on one side (the side of the gland located at 8 o'clock). This is the same side that swells. I'm thinking he has an infection back there because it seems to come and go. He also occasionally licks there alot, tucks his tail most of the time, and once in awhile he "leaks" a brownish-yellow substance. So, the second question is: I have found a homeopathic antibiotic alternative (Vibactra)and wondered if you had any experience with it. Thank you for your time. -David-

Dear David,

Usually we recommend that a bottle be consumed within 60 days. However, I think you could still use the large bottle if you pour some of the product into a smaller bottle and dose from the smaller bottle. You could leave the larger bottle in the refrigerator; since it would only be opened infrequently it should keep it's efficacy.

I have not used Vibactra. I use the homeopathic remedy Silicea 30C for anal gland problems. It should be available at a health food store.

Please let us know how you do with the anal glands.

Best regards,

Dr. Char
