We are considering adopting a dog from a shelter that is very depressed and unhappy at the shelter (since 4-1-13) and is very thin. We both work and I am concerned about potential separation anxiety. Is this a valid concern or not? Thank you -Debbie-

Dear Debbie,

If I was locked up in the shelter I would be depressed, too. I would ask the shelter workers if they think the dog has potential for being a good pet. If you feel there is a connection between you and him and you would want to restore him you could try Anxietrex, a good grain free diet, and Canine Probiotics. Together it can help improve behavior.

Please let us know if you need any other suggestions.

Best regards,
