Health Questions & Answers

My three year old lab has a spot on her tail that she will not leave alone. She has licked the hair completely off in a spot about the size of a quarter. It has not bled but it is raw. I do not see any mites or fleas or anything on her skin. I have noticed recently she will roll on her back on the carpet. Sort of like she is scratching her back on the carpet. Is there something I could put on her coat to help?

Dear Lori,

You might want to look at some of our products to help the spot on the tail. DERMA-IONX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces itching and inflammation, promotes healing of the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. The supplements I use along with it include probiotics, MSM, vitamin C, and Omega 3,6,9. Together with DERMA-IONX it produces a synergistic effect for a faster response. I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. For the dietary modifications you might want to try a grain free diet for a while.

DEFENDEX shampoo which is nontoxic washes away debris and soothes the skin. However since it is very concentrated you would only need to use a tiny amount. Using these products can help to resolve a difficult condition. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
