is it ok to give a dog aspirin? I have a Brittany spaniel, about 55lbs. and his hip is bothering him badly. I cannot afford a vet visit.

Dear Kellyolsen,

You can give dogs aspirin, but I do not recommend it. It can cause irritation of the stomach so it is important that there is food in the stomach to protect the stomach lining. A safer approach is to use homeopathics such as Promaxol or Arthro-IonX. These products can provide symptom relief and stimulate healing. In addition I find it helpful to follow a holistic approach by giving some nutritional supplements to accompany the homeopathic. The supplements I recommend are Canine Probiotics, MSM, vitamin C, and Omega 3,6,9. In addition I would suggest an evaluation be a veterinary chiropractor. This can be helpful with hip problems.

Please let us know how you do.

Best regards,
