I have a 10yr old purebred female boxer that appears to have hip dysplasia. It started rather quickly. She is starting to have trouble walking, mostly after getting up after napping. I know its painful because she will favor one leg a lot. Some days are worse than others. She also has a itchy eye that she rubs a lot and I clean it often but the stuff that comes out smells. Would opthemalic eurithromycin work and your thoughts on Arthro-IonX please. Thank you so much. respectfully Jef

Dear Jef,

I would try Promaxol to reduce the pain and help healing to begin. Promaxol would be a good choice for your dog because it contains the stronger LM potencies. After improvement is seen then you can switch over to Arthro-IonX. However if you want to get only one product you can go ahead and just get Arthro-IonX. In addition it is helpful to give Canine Probiotics with each meal, Omega 3,6,9, MSM, and vitamin C daily. (We carry the first two and the other two you can get at a health food store.) The oligotherapeutic mineral base found in the IONX products helps the body to better utilize the other nutritional substances given for a synergistic response and faster healing. Also be sure to give sufficient fresh water that is free of chlorine and fluoride. If you can gradually phase into a grain free diet that can be helpful too. The other thing that is sometimes beneficial is to have a certified veterinary chiropractor check for spinal alignment and make any corrections as necessary. This might also help the eye improve more quickly. It is hard to say what ophthalmic antibiotic would be the most beneficial for your dog. When the correct one is given the eye should look better within in a day or two. For the eye seeing your veterinarian would be a good idea because there can be underlying reasons that are contributing to the infection.

Please let us know how you progress or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,
