Hi I have a Golden Retriever that at times gets dry skin. This is the worse its been. Mostly down the middle of his back to his tail. Now he currently takes potassium bromide for siezures, which his dose was just increased to 800mg 2x daily. The skin issue was prior to increase. I live in Arizona. My vet put him on prednisone to help with irritation. I've still got another week of them. It is helping. I currently feed my dogs Chicken Soup for Dogs. It was specifically recommended for the healthiness and the all naturalness. So I don't think it's the food. Is there something else I can do to help him? Supplements etc? He's 50lbs. And does the Derma-IonX only come as a shampoo? Thank you. Jason

Dear Jason,

You might want to look at some of our products to help heal the skin. Derma-IonX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces itching and inflammation , promotes healing of the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. The supplements I use along with it include Canine probiotics, vitamin C, MSM, and Omega 3,6,9. Together with Derma-IonX it produces a synergistic effect for a faster response. I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. When there are skin issues I like to feed a grain free diet for a while. The better protein sources according to Chinese food therapy in your case would be cooling ones if your dog is not allergic to them. Cooling ones are turkey and fish. Chicken and lamb are warming. Beef is neutral. We know know your dog would be warm living in a warm place and with dry skin. You might also want to consider veterinary acupuncture to help with the seizures.

Defendex shampoo which is nontoxic washes away debris and soothes the skin. Using these products is a simple and effective way of helping resolve a difficult condition.

Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.
