Health Questions & Answers

I'm wondering if any of your products help with skin darkening. My 1 1/2 yr old dachshund/beagle mix has had areas of darkening in his groin area. One side is worse than the other but it has been there on and off for the past year. Originally thought it was outside allergies, but that is not the case. He eats Natural Balance LID lamb and brown rice. Our vet said to use an antibiotic spray but that doesn't help either. And the dog has an odd odor continually.

Dear Sue,

You might want to look at some of our products to help heal the skin. Derma-IonX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces inflammation, promotes healing of the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. The supplements I use along with it include Canine probiotics, vitamin C, MSM, and Omega 3,6,9. Together with Derma-IonX it produces a synergistic effect for a faster response. I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. For the dietary modifications you might want to try a grain free diet that uses fish or turkey as the protein source if your dog is not allergic to these. The blackening of the skin indicates heat and so according to Chinese food therapy using those that are considered to be cooling such as fish and turkey should be helpful. Lamb, chicken, and venison are warming and should be avoided if possible while the skin is black.

Defendex shampoo which is nontoxic washes away debris and soothes the skin. Using these products is a simple and effective way of helping resolve a difficult condition. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
