I can not remember the amount of Benadryl to give my dogs. They are only four pounds and are allergic to the new mowed grass. We have been told to just give them the Benadryl since it is only for a short time they need it. Deb

Dear Deb,

he books say you can use 1 mg/ pound of body weight every 8 hours. I have found that one does not need to use that much so I would start with less and work up to that amount over time if necessary. I would give it in 1mg increments as necessary not to exceed 4 mg over an 8 hour period. You might also want to have some Derma-IonX on hand because it can help when Benadryl fails or if it causes too much drowsiness.

Best regards,
