Can this be helped with medication?

Dear Susan,

I prefer to start with natural substances. Sometimes pharmaceutical medications can be avoided or used at lower quantities. The homeopathic PROMAXOL helps to decrease pain, inflammation, and stiffness and stimulate healing. Initially I would give a half dose with breakfast and supper. After improvement is seen you can decrease to a whole dose once daily. For longer term management you can switch to ARTHRO-IONX. In addition I find it helpful to follow a holistic approach by giving some nutritional supplements to accompany the homeopathic. I would use MSM, probiotics, vitamin C, and Omega 3,6,9. Sometimes I also give a perna mussel/ glucosamine/ manganese supplement. If nerves innervating the hind legs are part of the problem, then giving a choline/ B vitamin supplement called GeriForm is helpful. PROMAXOL, ARTHRO-IONX, PROBIOTICS, and OMEGA 3,6,9 are available from Vetionx.

I would also suggest an evaluation by a veterinary chiropractor. If a correction is needed, that can help with better movement. If the animal is still growing it can help stimulate better hip formation. Acupuncture is also worth checking into.

Please let us know how your dog responds.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
