Are there specific test for hip displasia I have a 150 lb chocolate lab he has been a very large dog since a puppy 16 lbs at 4 weeks and very big boned then so we knew he was going to be very large but now at 3 yrs he is having trouble getting up and down fearing he has Hip Dysplasia. He acts like he is 12 instead of 3. He's not fat just very solid and large. I know Hip Dysplasia is not unusual in large dogs or labs just dont have money for vet but will find it if that is what you recommend?

Dear Ronda,

I would start with PROMAXOL. It helps to decrease pain, inflammation, and stiffness and stimulate healing. Initially I would give a half dose with breakfast and supper. After improvement is seen you can decrease to a whole dose once daily. For longer term management you can switch to ARTHRO-IONX. In addition I find it helpful to follow a holistic approach by giving some nutritional supplements to accompany the homeopathic. I would use MSM, vitamin C, probiotics, and Omega 3,6,9. What type of food and water are you giving?

I would also suggest an evaluation by a veterinary chiropractor. If a correction is needed, that can help with better movement.

Please keep us updated and we can help guide you.

Best wishes,
