Is there anything we can do about fatty tumors in my mom's 12 year old black lab. Also she has arthritis really bad. for the last month she has been pacing both night and day. Her back legs give out also. She is over weight. We don't want her to suffer. Any help would be appreciated.

Dear Ed,

ARTHRO-IONX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces pain and inflammation. The supplements I use along with it include probiotics and Omega 3,6,9. I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. As for diet, sometimes dogs can lose weight if fed a grain free diet. If she is able to move more (if she is more comfortable) that will help too.

The fatty tumors are hard to deal with and are usually not worth doing something about. Your veterinarian should decide what to do about them. If she continues to pace after trying the above then see if you can find a veterinary acupuncturist.

Please let us know how she does.

Best wishes,
