Dear Dr Wilson, My cats got diabetes melitus 2009 to present and since his heart has failed. I feed him Hills wth feline weight loss-low carbohydrate-glucose management both wet and dry. He got more gained up 21.10, but hows this food should decrease. He got morning and night got insulin Lantus 3 unit. but he a lot nap. Its weirds. But his Dr. vet never give me test meter glucose. How he got very high 540 glucose. I seem something wrong with Dr. and cats. When my home long time with cats, he is fine loved it play with me. when my cats went to Veterinary DR. for test blood work glucose, then back home. I notice it was worse a day nap it is weird. Dr. what cts got 540 high glucose, will he become sick or ???????

Dear Sura,

It might be helpful to get a second opinion from a different veterinary hospital. Stress from a hospital stay or an infection in the body can cause blood sugar to rise.

There are blood sugar meters available for pets. If there is a teaching veterinary hospital nearby you could call them.

I would try DIA-IONX to help with better regulation. Nutritional needs for the heart can be supported with a product such as Feline Cardiac Support by Standard Process.
