How to administer new product Dia-Ionx to diabetic cat with 3 other cats in the house.  Cannot put in water as recommended.  I tried today for the first time by adding recommended dosage to small amount of Hill's ZD prescription dry food, it soaked it up, he ate it, this was 2 hours after his breakfast which includes his wet food, glucose aid, pill pancreatic, enzyme tab, probiotic powder, and rice bran mixture. Am I doing this correctly? Does her just get the Dia-IonX once daily? Thanks for your help.

Dear Claire,

My preferred method is to put 10 drops on some wet food twice daily. I try to avoid any dry food because it stresses the pancreas. Some studies have shown that even when cats who were doing well on canned food only were again given any kind of dry food they regressed. That is why I try to give canned food that is less than 2 % carbohydrate. After you are satisfied with your progress you can try giving it just once a day.

Best regards,

Dr. Char
