Health Questions & Answers

My cat has, what feels like scab all around her neck and on top of her head, when I had her fixed they stated it was dermatitis, but it has gotten worse, is there anything over the counter that will help or do I need to bring her in to be checked out. If I need to bring her in how much is it for an office visit and medicine, Iknow this will just be an estimate. Thanks

Dear Charlotte, You might want to try our homeopathic DERMA-IONX. I would add 10 drops to the breakfast and supper wet food. It reduces skin irritation. I would also give PROBIOTICS and Omega 3,6,9. These aid the skin as well.

What kind of food are you giving? I would use a grain free food that is turkey or fish based. In Chinese food therapy these would be more cooling choices to off set warm skin.

Also find out when the last tapeworming had been done. The presence of tapeworms can cause a lot of skin symptoms.

There might also be an hormonal component that might need to be addressed depending upon what results you get from doing the above. I would try these things before setting an appointment with your veterinarian. Country veterinarians are usually less expensive than ones in the city. Around here office visits are $45, but they will charge extra for every thing they do.

Please let us know what response you get from my suggestions

Best regards,

Dr. Char
