Usually I take my cat to vet and he gets a shot and pills. Is there something better besides steroids?

Dear Cindy,

DERMA-IONX has been helpful in feline dermatitis. I also suggest that your cat be checked for parasites, so you might want to do this if it hasn't been done recently. I also give probiotics, and Omega 3,6,9. As for dosing the DERMA-IONX, I prefer to add 10 drops onto some canned food twice daily at breakfast and supper. If you need to you can give another 10 drops orally at bedtime.

What kind of food and treats do you give your cat? Feeding grain free is wise at this time. I have seen good results with Purina's Beyond grain free Whitefish flavor. Fish or turkey might be better protein sources at this time. According to Chinese food therapy these are more cooling for warm itchy skin; chicken or lamb are considered to be more warming. Do not use a food if there is a known allergy to it.

Also offer purified water if your water contains chlorine.

Please keep us updated.

Best regards,
