My husband is out of town for a few days and the day he left my 4 year old male attacked one of our 3 littermate 2 year olds. Fur was flying, the poor thing urinated on herself trying to get away. He didn't let up. I managed to get him into another room (bathroom) and sat on the toilet trying to calm him. He was growling and screaming like a feral cat who was just in a fight. I have a nice scratch on my leg to prove it. His 'time out' lasted about 5 hours. When I let him out he was OK for a few hours. Then he came downstairs and started stalking her again. She ran away and he ran after her. I got the water bottle and the whole thing was a repeat of the previous night. Now he is isolated in another bedroom and when I'm alone with him he is the sweetest most affectionate thing. Purring and I even managed to trim some of his nails. I decided to let him out yesterday to see what he did. He was OK for a while, sniffing and exploring, but once he went downstairs, his personality changed and he was looking for a fight again. Fortunately the 3 little ones had taken refuge under the beds and he had no-one to chase. He doesn't bother my 17 and 18 year old males as they are old and he knows that. He is fine with her brother too. Our 5 year old female doesn't tolerate his bullying and just hisses at him. He leaves her alone. Why is he picking on the little ones? They don't bother anyone and just want to watch the birds on the feeder. They are terrified of him. Husband comes home on Thursday but I don't know if that will put an end to this.

Dear Marianne,

You might need to get some pheremones from the pet store or your veterinarian. In addition the homeopathic ANXIETREX could be helpful to reduce the tension. It will be interesting to see what happens when your husband returns home.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
