There has been a disagreement amoung doctors. My daughter's doctor stated my disable daughter has scabies from dogs. I took my room-mates dog to the vet and he said it is highly unlikely and charged me for the skin test, then said he can't find mites but it's possible the dog could have them.Very confused. He wanted to charge $170 plus charge for several treatments. Not proving the dog has scabies. Now I'm unsure if either diagnoises is right!

Dear Eve,

Please ask what exactly what species of mite your daughter has. They could send your daughter's sample out for the exact diagnosis. It is highly unlikely your daughter has dog mites. If you wanted to treat the dog anyway, you could bathe the dog with DEFENDEX shampoo once weekly for a month, which would not be as harmful to the dog as conventional pesticides would be. Does the dog have any symptoms?

Best regards,
