I have a 32 year old quarter horse mare that has DSLD in her hind legs & is arthritic. She is on a strong liquid joint supplement & gets about 2 grams of bute a day to keep her comfortable. If I give her Arthro-IonX will I be able to take her off the bute?

Dear Nancy,

As improvement is seen then you can decrease the amount of Bute. Hopefully you will be able to get it down to a minimal amount or perhaps only using it occasionally. Initially I would give a half dose twice daily. After things are better you can give a whole dose once daily.

Please let us know how your horse does.

Best regards,
