My 16 year old cat's health is going down hill. She just had a slight stroke but came out of it now. She does have a large thyroid and treat her with PetAlive thyroid soothe. She still eats and drinks well. I have gone through this with another pet so I know the signs. Should I just let nature takes it course at this stage, I don't want her to suffer. Is she in pain when she has these attacks?

Dear Donna,

I doubt if your cat is in pain. If a pet doesn't want to eat and drink that is a poor sign. I also look at quality of life. Your cat is still participating in life so It doesn't seem necessary to consider euthanasia at this time. At some point in time things will change and you will probably get a sense that your cat no longer wants to fight for life. You might want to consider giving some Promaxol which can help keep older pets more comfortable. I also give probiotics and Omega 3,6,9 to aid digestion and decrease inflammation. I hope these suggestions will be helpful for you and your cat.

Best wishes,
