Veterinary Homeopathy

By Dr. Char Wilson, DVM More Blogs by This Author

Dr. Char Wilson explains the homeopathic implications involved in the veterinary world.
Host, Gerry Barnaby- Hey, what’s up? Barnaby here—another VETiONX Moment, where you get to ask questions of the vet. I’m talking about the holistic vet since 1987, Char. How ya doin’?
Health Coach, Dr. Char Wilson, DVM-  Very well!
Barnaby-  Alrighty! So, this one strikes at the very core of, and that is: “How is homeopathy used in veterinary medicine?”
Dr. Char-  Well, homeopathy is used in veterinary medicine for many conditions. In Europe, it’s very common that—probably the majority of veterinarians there use some form of homeopathy along with conventional treatments. So, it’s very well-accepted in some parts of the world and here, you know, people are not that familiar with homeopathy, but they can use it safely. So, if something happens, you know, I would grab for the homeopathic, give it, then go to the conventional veterinarian that, you know, you usually go to and then get a secondary treatment or opinion to make sure that things are, you know, going along the way they should be. Homeopathy can prevent something from getting much worse. A lot of times, it can stabilize the situation until you can get some other treatment. Homeopathy doesn’t fight against or contradict any other conventional drugs, so it’s very safe. So, if the animal is on some type of medication and you give the homeopathic, it’s not going to conflict.
Barnaby- Okay, so that segueways nicely, and that is: “What conditions are treatable by homeopathic medicine for pets? Is it across the board?”
Dr. Char-  Well, just about everything. Because, you know, homeopathy is a very unique form of medicine because there are homeopathic remedies that are made by dilution and succusion. So, they have found, over the centuries, that certain ones treat certain symptoms. So, like, in the VETiONX products, they found the ones that are used in the more common diseases and they put those into one product. So, let’s say that there was an arthritis or a rheumatism type case—the more generally successful remedies are all put into one bottle, so the chances that this product is going to work for that patient is pretty high. There are other remedies that have been put together for some common causes, such as like diabetes—that’s our Dia-IonX. Then there’s the water, or H2O-IonX, which is kind of more the maintenance-type product that helps with digestion and good oral health—because, you know, the whole immune system starts with the digestive system, so you want to keep that good, because if that stays good, then usually the body will do much better. Then we have Promaxol, which is for pain, which is kind of like Arthro, but with additional LM potencies, so it’s a little bit stronger and helps with many causes of pain.
Barnaby-  It’s all good stuff! So, I guess it is a big thumbs-up as regards to homeopathy and lessening the pain and suffering that your pet might be enduring because of various conditions. Thanks so very much for the good information. You know, we really invite any and all to ask your specific questions of Dr. Char. You can do that by simply clicking on the “Ask the Doc” or “Ask the Vet” link, which is at That’s where you are right now, for this VETiONX Moment, which is us saying to you: “Your pet is our pet.” We care that much.
