So, here's a funny term that came up in a conversation I had a while back: 'Pregnancy Etiquette'.

It was in reference to when it's appropriate to announce a pregnancy to friends and family.

My thought is that whenever the parents are ready, that's the right time. Then again, a lot of people wait until the 1st trimester is almost over to tell. I imagine it's different for everyone.

I tend to think it's good to tell people early on. That way, in the tragic event of a miscarriage, you don't have to bear the burden alone. I think this stems from my coming from a religious family - I like to be able to pray for someone if I know they're early on in the pregnancy, when the pregnancy is the most tenuous. But religious or not, I think the support system is nice to have as soon as possible.

Of course, people have all sorts of reasons for when they decide to tell. I agree with you - whenever the parents are ready, it's the right time. Of course, if you wait too long, it becomes pretty obvious :)
