My Life's Frequency

"The Earth has music for those who listen." -George Santayana
Ever since I was a child, I had a fascination with sound. I could easily blame this fascination on the endless stream of music that filled the ether of whatever house my family called home at any given point in time. I could tell you it spawns from my many hours spent staring at my father while he strummed a Gibson J-45 and belted out classic lyrics. I could tell you it was the first time I ever heard a bird's song, igniting my first foray into linguistic communication, "bluejay." I could use any of these as an excuse for my constant admiration of sonic vibration, but I would be lying.
There is no doubt these factors play heavily into my love of sound, but I believe the fundamental awe comes from someplace much deeper.
Vibrational frequencies surround us constantly. As a matter of fact, true silence is nigh impossible to find on this spinning rock we occupy. If you are willing to die a rather brutal death, you could travel to space to find it, but somehow I think that would be a trip wasted. The truth is, vibration is the very foundation upon which we are built and, consequently, what holds us together. Each of us vibrates, and at many different frequencies throughout the day.
I believe that it is these frequencies that bind us together as humans. There are many labels for the this connection, most consider it the "soul." While I am always down for a good characterizing word, the abstract concept of soul is not pure enough for me.
I first began thinking of it in these terms when I met my future wife. While I will spare you the details, I only feel true contentment in her presence. Even the smallest distances or briefest moments of respite cause me to feel out of balance. Out of sync with my own frequency. But, as soon as I am in the same room as her I feel whole again.
I first described this as her being my "soul mate," but my inherent disbelief in such a concept seemed to cheapen the bond for me. It took me five years to stumble upon my favorite band of all time and their use of cymatic frequencies to fully realize how important vibrational frequencies were to me and my love for my partner.
In short, cymatics deals with the study of visible sound and vibration. Essentially, making light of the waves that surround and envelope us daily. Once I began to think of it this way, things became much more clear. It is my hope that you can find this clarity as well, and I can only hope that it comes in the form of poignant revelation like mine.
These videos helped me to truly begin grasping at the concept of vibration in our lives. I watched them and the veil upon which we see through slowly began to lift. Good luck...
