It's pretty much common knowledge that cigarettes are full of nasty chemicals that make them harmful to smokers and those around them. One thing that sprang to mind is how many cigars are handmade and not necessarily mass-produced like cigarettes. So what makes them unhealthy - the same things as cigarettes, different things, or both?

It seems as though the more expensive and hand-rolled cigars do not have the additives that cigarettes usually do. However, the tobacco will still give you cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, "regular cigar smoking increases your risk for many cancers including: lung, lip, oral cavity (tongue, mouth, and/or throat), esophagus (the tube connecting the mouth to the stomach), and larynx."

So, we can see the cancer risk is there because of the tobacco. Even though the other additives are terrible for your system as well, the tobacco will cause cancer.
