Atopic Dermatitis

Hi, Ive consulted a doctor lately regarding my atopic dermatits and according to her, I have the worst case she have seen in her entire life. Today, it gotten worst too. Is there still cure for this? I havent tried any products not even the prescribed prods the doctor adviced me (too pricey). She also mentioned this laser/uv like thing to me but did not elaborate and to think its much cheaper than what she recommend me to buy. Is there any way to cure it? My self-esteem is very low now because of this. Your advice would be very helpful. And oh! If you want to see how it looks like now, I can upload a picture. Thank you in advance, Donna

It's that time of year again when the sun is not and intense. What is the best form of sunscreen? I saw a commercial the other day for Neutrogena but is it really the best?

Sudden, never-ending dry skin/rash on my eye lids... Help!

Hello! About 6 weeks ago my left eye lid suddenly had a dry patch of skin, essentially flaky it was so dry. Yet none of my eye lotions seemed to help - in fact they seemed to irritate it even more. I ended up using vaseline as it was the only thing that didn't make it hurt... My mom convinced me to use mycetracin/neosporin (because of the antibacterial effect), which I did.  Shortly after I started that, my right eye lid joined in the party. Now I have two inflamed eye lids that I am unhappily loading up with neosporin each day. Not exactly an attractive look and it is incredibly annoying.  I had started a new eye lotion about a month prior to the rash... could this have done it? Other than that, I had quit taking birth control pills 3 months prior and a friend told me that hormone changes can cause dry skin patches... What should I do? Thanks for your advice! :) Red Eyed Girl

Dermatitis vs. Psoriasis

I just finished taking an anti-inflammatory steroid drug for another medical problem, and I noticed that I have dandruff coming back, which I haven't experienced since starting the steroid. From what I've read, psoriasis (which I also have) can cause dandruff similar to the standard dermatitis type, but steroid treatments can cause it to go away. Is it possible that psoriasis is causing my dandruff? If so, are there OTC dandruff treatments that will help just the same as with regular dandruff?

Could soap cause pimples? How do you get rid of them?

Recently I've developed a rather annoying and large pimple on my chin. It's one of the ones that hides deep in your skin and is fairly painful. I don't get these often, but when I do they're bad. I've been putting benzoyl peroxide on it almost every night I go to bed for the past two weeks. ...And it has done nothing to help but make it red and noticeable. Last night, I was fed up with and decided to just let it be. I washed my face with soap and decided if it wanted to stay on my face, I couldn't do anything about it. I woke up this morning and it didn't go down in size, but it did hurt less. I had also developed one on my forehead and that one went down from not having any chemicals on it. It seems like chemicals just irritate the skin and make pimples more inflamed. Should I just wash my face with soap and let them die out on their own? How have you dealt with your pimples?

Dry, Itchy Skin - Do you think it's psoriasis? :/

So, a few years back I started getting some dry and itchy skin at the lower back of my skull (yeah, gross). It came and went over a couple of years or so, and now seems to have cleared up completely. I don't know if it was psoriasis, but it's never happened before or since, and hasn't shown up anywhere else on my body. Anyone else had anything like this?

Tea Tree Oil and Acne?

Has anyone out there tried tea tree oil for acne? It's antimicrobial properties are supposed to be a great natural remedy. I have heard that the undiluted oil can be a bit harsh, but that a mixture of the oil with water can work well.
