Summer Beauty Product Review

By Claire Franklin More Blogs by This Author

In my ongoing quest for beauty, I am always on the lookout for new products designed to fortify my hair, clear my skin or give me a natural, gorgeous glow. I also, from time to time, take advice from others if they’ve tried something worthwhile. This time, one of my friends recommended Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, a spray-on makeup for legs.

Before I go further, it’s important to note nine years ago, I was in a serious accident that broke my left leg in three different places. My doctors weren’t sure I’d ever walk again, and they performed surgery to insert two metal plates on either side of my tibia, held in place by 12 screws. I tell you this because the surgery, which thankfully did fix my leg, left me with a grisly scar that extends from my kneecap to about two inches above my ankle. There is no way to conceal this, and it’s unsightly at best.

Near Flawless Finish. Covers Scars and Veins. Hides Imperfections and Uneven Skin Tone. Easy To Use. Dries Fast.

With summer here, I decided to use Airbrush Legs to see if it did anything to make my scar less visible. And I am happy to say it did.

In fact, this product after just one application gave my legs a nearly flawless finish, covering up tiny imperfections, one ugly vein and uneven skin tone. It’s incredibly easy to use, dries in 60 seconds and comes in four different shades to accommodate just about anyone. Moreover, this product can be used on arms and chest, too, to create a truly airbrushed look on your entire body. It’s less than $15 per bottle and is worth every single penny.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

REVIEW: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Glides On. Not Heavy or Greasy. Soft, Velvety Finish. 20 Shades.

For anyone who loves lip balms, I have a product sure to bring a smile to your face.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter glides on like actual butter without making lips feel heavy or greasy. In fact, this balm does nothing except create a soft, velvety shield for your lips that’s unlike any lip product I’ve ever used before. When I rub my lips together with this butter on, they feel wonderfully smooth. And the 20 available shades are gorgeous, perfectly light and sheer for summer. I opted for Sugar Plum, which gives my lips a natural, plum-colored shade. Made with mango, shea and coconut butter, this balm reportedly boosts lip moisture by 156 percent. You’ll feel the difference as soon as you put it on.

Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip BalmREVIEW: Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm

SPF 20 Sun Protection. Soft Finish. Sheer, Shiny Tint. Visibly Reduces Dryness and Roughness. Doubles as Blush!

Another lip product you’ll love is Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm. This is a new balm with SPF 20 sunscreen. The soft feel is matched only by the sheer, shiny color that adds just the right amount of tint. Labeled “clinical strength,” Baby Lips visibly reduces dryness and roughness while also making lips softer and more supple. I chose the shade Grape Vine, which I’ve discovered makes a great color for cheeks as well.

recommend LOreal Ever Style Alcohol-Free Strong Hold Styling SprayREVIEW: L'Oreal Ever Style Alcohol-Free Strong Hold Styling Spray

Smells Great. Holds Style. Not Greasy, Heavy or Crunchy. Adds Shine to Hair.

Last but not least, if you’re in the market for a new hairspray, I recommend L’Oreal Ever Style Alcohol-Free Strong Hold Styling Spray. I love the way this spray smells, which is a first for me with hairspray. And it holds a style without weighing hair down. There’s nothing greasy or crunchy about this product, and it actually enhances the shine of my own hair. Moreover, it’s affordable, around $6 for 8.5 ounces.
