The Sweet Potato
Alright people, my latest food obsession: sweet potatoes. Very similar to yams, but not quite. However, I tend to use the terms interchangeably; I simply like saying 'yam' more :D
Anyway! Onto the important stuff: why are they sooo good for you? Well, they're a great source of complex carbohydrates (like naturally occurring sugars), vitamins A and C, potassium, protein, calcium, fiber, calcium, iron, and other stuff that your body wants and neeeeds!!
Of course there are some negative contents within the sweet potato. Those would be things like fat, cholesterol, sodium, and caffeine (which, even though caffeine actually "isn't good for you", I personally find it pretty awesome. Just sayin'!).
Back to the good stuff!! To make them even more appealing, they're super simple to prepare! So far all I've done to prepare them is cut them up, put them in the oven with a little water, butter, salt, pepper, and a bit of brown sugar (though, depending on your personal taste, you can season it with other things), and they come out absolutely delicious! The Food Network's website offers literally hundreds of interesting, fancy ways to make them into a meal that is both tasty and super good for you!
Next time you're looking for a new dish, try making a sweet potato. THEY ROCK. That is all.
