I love almonds so much! They will probably be in my heart as my favorite nut ever. I love them smoked, skinless, and, my favorite, toffee flavor! Okay I take that back, the kind they fry at fairs are the best ever. Recently, however, a challenger has risen up from the darkness. Its name: The Pistachio!
After discovering the awesomeness that is the flavor of the pistachio, I went and found more about pistachios. As it turns out, they're pretty good for you as well!
Benefit #1: Vitamin B6
Pistachios (which, in an attempt to remember how to spell, I am now pronouncing "pist-ah-chee-ohz") are a great source of vitamin B6! which, evidently, is really good for your blood! Vitamin B6 is needed to make hemoglobin, which is responsible for carrying oxygen to all of the cells in your body! The more efficiently your blood carries oxygen, the more efficient your body is as a whole. Also, vitamin B6 is linked directly to a good mood, so maybe pistachios will make you happy too!
Along with each pistachio being a happy pill and giving you super blood, vitamin B6 within them is beneficial for your nervous system. As it turns out, vitamin B6 is called upon when building brain cells. With more vitamin B6 in your diet, your brain works more efficiently.

Pistachios are also an amazing source of vitamin E, a vitamin that is highly recommended for skin health. It can reduce wrinkles when it produces collagen, the tissue that makes our skin elastic. I may be going out on a limb, but the average american diet of white bread and red meat covered in sugar is lacking in fiber. That kicks the teeth straight into the throat of anything you're going to find in the vending machine! Fiber helps with a plethora of bodily functions and makes you feel full longer after you eat, which can be a handy diet tool!

For every 100g of pistachios consumed, you recive 557 calories (whoa!). A few words of caution: do not to overindulge on pistachios (or anything for that matter). However, if you are putting together a snack and need a lot of energy while not eating that much, pistachios are a fantastic option. Along with being super energy bombs, they lower your overall LDL cholesterol while raising HDL cholesterol. Pistachios are equipped with anti-oxidants that help fight off bad STUFF!
