Mmm...Chinese Food vs. Mmm? Chinese Food?

I like delicious Chinese food! There's an entire gamut of different places that you can go to find Chinese cuisine. Where I live in Western Michigan, there are only four or five Chinese places that I frequent. My favorite is P.F. Chang's China Bistro in Grand Rapids. I've only been there a handful of times, but their food is awesome! It's just like the little places but better somehow (didn't even know that was possible).

BUT!!!!! After every Chinese adventure, I get the 3p.m. "sleepys" pretty easily. @_@

SO!!!!!! I went on an online quest to find out what exactly I'm eating to get the sleepys! My results were as follows:

P.F. Chang's Crispy Honey Chicken

1431 calories

69g fat

12g sat fat

147g carbs

1530mg sodium

So okay, to be fair (sorta) the meal is 3 servings...but it all comes on 1 plate! Naturally, I attempt to eat it all. This, added to copious amounts of white rice, may be why I get the sleepys. When I eat this, I'm taking in ungodly amounts of fat and carbs and roughly 2/3 of my daily recommended sodium intake. Hmm...

  • All Asian food is loaded with sodium. I mean Ramen Noodles are the worst. Get this though, each pack of Ramen noodles (the brick kind) is two servings! It took me forever before I saw that. In college I had two packs at a time. That's 4 servings. Now the sodium in each serving is about 800mgs * 4 = 2,400mgs in one meal. It turns out Ramen Noodles are the worst, but high sodium is a trend in all Asian food that I've eaten. To be fair though I've only eaten Americanized Asian food.
