My 8 year old lab Mia has been having seizures for 2 years now. She is on phenobaritol and still having seizures on occasion . My question is there a herbal or natural remedy you have that stop or decrease the sight effects of the PHeno and possibly stopping the seizures. -Katie-

Dear Katie, There are different causes of seizures. I would recommend that you see a veterinary chiropractor or acupuncturist. If it is due to pressure on nerves the chiropractor would be especially helpful. Even if this was not the cause the tightening of the muscles during a seizure could cause subluxations to occur and pressure on nerves. If it is due to liver stagnation an acupuncturist could work on this. To help with the symptoms I would use Promaxol because it contains homeopathic remedies to help restore balance to a body that has been having seizures. You may use it along with other medications or supplements. It is homeopathic in nature and so it will not negatively interact with other physical substances. In addition I find it helpful to follow a holistic approach by giving some nutritional supplements to accompany Promaxol. The supplements I recommend are digestive enzymes with meals, MSM, probiotics, vitamin C, and fish oil. I also use a choline/ B vitamin supplement called Geri-Form for dogs that are prone to seizures. The IONX products can help the body to better utilize the nutrition for a synergistic response. If you wanted to use Promaxol on a longer term you could switch over to Arthro-IonX for maintenance. It is Promaxol minus the LM potencies of all the ingredients. I would also feed a grain free diet and give purified water. Please let us know how you do or if you have any other questions. Best wishes, Dr. Char
