Is walking my dog really necessary EVERY day for good health?

Absolutely!!! Besides being heart healthy, (on the behavioral side) walking is a fantastic way to reduce stress, alleviate anxiety, and burn energy.

Many dogs that suffer from anxiety and stress can improve in these areas with a 30-45 minute heart pumping walk.

For a dog, walking is a time to explore, sniff, and experience a new environment then the four walls of the house or fenced in-yard. This is a time to meet new people and make new doggy friends. Why would we want to deprive our fur kid of this?

Walking is a HUGE part of your dog's mental and physical well-being. Taking your dog on a daily walk can help transform many behavioral problems to the better.

A simple walk can help modify those unwanted behaviors that are caused by boredom, frustration, or simply "cabin fever." Yes, even dogs can suffer from cabin fever. Spending too much time confined in the same area and space can lead a dog to seek other ways to get attention, like jumping on people, digging in the back yard, chewing things they shouldn't be, or counter-surfing (stealing food from counters and tables).

Do you hesitate to take your dog for a walk because they are not enjoyable? No worries, please visit my blog and learn how to enjoy walking your dog with my training tips.

Yes! All shapes and sizes of dogs need 30 minutes of heart pumping exercise daily. Exercise burns calories, builds lean muscle, and is mentally stimulating for dogs.

Humans have become couch potatoes over the years and so have our canine companions. We feed them fatty treats when they look up at us with those big eyes because, of course, we want to make our dogs happy. What we need to realize is that our dogs will live two years longer if we exercise them daily and feed them so they maintain an ideal body condition.

Behavior problems are a common reason for animals to be relinquished to shelters. Daily activity such as walks help dogs to release pent up energy, using their energy for good behavior instead of bad. It also allows the owner and the dog to spend some quality time together talking about the frustrations of the day and getting some much needed fresh air.

Both you and your dog will live longer, happier, healthier lives with at least 30 minutes of exercise each day.
