Our Labrador/Border Collie has skin irritation on his thigh area. He licks the skin and the coat has come out. We have been using Derma-Ionx which seems to work and the skin grows back in that area but then he keeps licking into another area next to the one which is better. He also has crusty skin around the outside of his ears and we have been putting vaseline on that which keeps clearing up but the crusty skin keeps moving away from that area into another area as well. I read about Defendex. That appears will fix the skin/coat but does it get rid of the mites (if that is what is the problem)? If not, what can we use to stop the mites cycle.  -Marilyn-

Dear Marilyn,

Defendex has helped dogs with mites and other skin irritation. Have mites been found in a skin scraping and what type are they?

What are you currently feeding your dog and are you giving other supplements?

Best regards,
